Dr. Tamika Michelle Evans is a proud daughter of North Philadelphia, shaped by its grit, grace, and endless potential. Educated in both the Philadelphia Public and Parochial School Systems, she earned her undergraduate degree from Temple University and went on to attain her Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in Educational Administration, along with Principal Certification, from Gwynedd Mercy University.
Raised in a family of passionate educators, Dr. Evans knew early on that education was not just a profession, it was her purpose. Inspired by her formative years at the Gesu School, she developed a deep commitment to serving the children of North Philadelphia, believing that every child, regardless of zip code, deserves access to quality education and boundless opportunities.
With 25 years of experience in the field of education, including 19 years in school leadership at Global Leadership Academy Charter School. Dr. Evans currently serves as the CEO of Global Leadership Academy Southwest, where she leads the transformation of an underserved Renaissance School in Southwest Philadelphia. Her leadership has been defined by resilience, strategic vision, and an unwavering love for scholars, staff, and community. For Dr. Evans, this work is not a job, it’s a calling. As she often says, “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.”
In 2017, Dr. Evans extended her impact beyond the school building by founding The Reading Corner Café, an after-school literacy program based in the Brewerytown section of North Philadelphia. Through this initiative, she continued to cultivate a love of reading in children and create joyful spaces for learning in the community that raised her.
Dr. Evans is an alumna and proud board member of the Gesu School, a dedicated member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and a mentor to many aspiring educators and leaders. She is especially passionate about supporting Philadelphia’s unhoused population and using her platform to uplift those in need.
Among all her titles and achievements, the ones she holds most dear are wife to Alphonso Evans Sr. and mother to Alphonso Jr. and Jordyn. She credits her success to the unwavering support of #TeamRoberts whose love and encouragement fuel her purpose every step of the way.
